One of the most exclusive of Hamburg's grand hotels since the days of the emperor has been the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, situated in the heart of the city at the shore of the Inner Alster lake. In 1897 the hotelfounder Friedrich Haerlin opened the hotel's doors to the world and since 2007 it has been known as the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten.
